Cosworth: Arrows Must Meet Wednesday Deadline

Arrows are yet to meet their Wednesday payment deadline with engine suppliers Cosworth in order to be allowed to run in this weekend's German Grand Prix as team boss Tom Walkinshaw continues his legal wranglings with shareholders Morgan Grenfell.

Walkinshaw is doing all he can to enable the team to run properly at Hockenheim and after they ran just four laps at Magny-Cours it is believed they could attempt to use those low-mileage engines for Hockenheim so that they can forgo the due payment.

Walkinshaw said in Magny-Cours that there were "no engine issues" for the team, but if that is his plan it will be scuppered by Cosworth, who insist the pre-race payment of $1.5 million still stands, even if new engines are not needed for them to make it onto the grid.

A source at Cosworth said: "If the payment is made then Arrows will run. If not, then it is not part of the agreement that they can run with used Magny-Cours engines."

Arrows also need the Ford-owned company's engineers to enable their cars to run in Germany, and although they are keen to help Arrows as much as they can to ensure they do not lose out financially, Cosworth could block their running if they miss the payment.
