Massa Pleased with Friday's Work

Brazilian Felipe Massa was pleased with his progress in Friday's practice for the French Grand Prix after posting the 13th quickest time of the session with the Petronas-powered Sauber.

Brazilian Felipe Massa was pleased with his progress in Friday's practice for the French Grand Prix after posting the 13th quickest time of the session with the Petronas-powered Sauber.

The young rookie, driving around the Magny-Cours circuit for the first time this weekend, was one of the busiest men in today's session, completing a total of 50 laps as he acclimatised to the French venue.

Massa, who also concentrated on tyre assessment ahead of Sunday's race, was happy with his day.

"I did a lot of laps today, the joint highest, and we were able to do a lot of work for the race," said Massa. "The car was consistent and I was happy with the balance. My lap time doesn't look so good, but on new tyres I made a mistake exiting Turn 12 that cost me three-tenths or so, so overall I'm quite happy with what I did."

Teammate Nick Heidfeld, on the other hand, was not so pleased with his C21's handling after finishing in 16th position, less than two tenths of a second behind Massa.

"As usual we concentrated on race preparation work today, but I'm not at all happy with the balance of my car," Heidfeld admitted. "It lacked stability and felt nervous all round the circuit. A pretty difficult day for me."
