Lauda Not Expecting Big Improvements at Imola

Jaguar will be without any aerodynamic improvements at this weekend's San Marino Grand Prix despite driver Eddie Irvine's confidence that the team would come up with an improvement in last week's test at Valencia.

At the Brazilian Grand Prix Irvine insisted his team would be testing a major development before heading to Imola, but it appears there will not be any changes to the car, and Jaguar boss Niki Lauda is not expecting the team to improve much compared to the previous races.

"We have made some good progress in recent weeks but there is not a significant new development on the Jaguar R3 for Imola," admitted Lauda. "It will be a few weeks before we see a noticeable step forward in aero terms and in the meantime we will continue to extract the best from the package we have."

The team's new wind tunnel, in Bicester, is now up and running and is running for 16 hours per day as the team races to find improvements to their under-performing car.

Despite an encouraging performance in Brazil where drivers Irvine and Pedro de la Rosa finished seventh and eighth respectively, there have been no actual developments added to the car since the first race of the season, in Australia.

The reason for the improvement, the team claim, is an improved understanding of the set-up of the car which has been developed during the test sessions between races.
