Teams Given Safety Warning in Brazil

Formula One teams have been warned to take precautions in order to avoid possible mugging at this weekend's Brazilian Grand Prix.

The Interlagos circuit is situated near a shanty town in Sao Paulo and already last year there were several incidents, with one team member even having his cash taken from him at gunpoint.

To avoid a repeat of the incidents, the Brazilian authorities have advised the members of the teams to change out their uniforms before leaving the circuit.

"Changing out of team clothing is a sensible precaution which we will be taking to avoid unwanted attention," said Jordan's team manager Tim Edwards. "I think, however, that it is important to keep things in perspective. Although there were some nasty incidents here last year, these tend to be isolated events.

"The Brazilian people could not be more friendly and welcoming, and as a team we very much enjoy visiting the country, and especially having a good night out at the local churrascuria restaurants."
