Coulthard Targets First Points of the Season
McLaren's David Coulthard is hoping to score his first points of the 2002 season at this weekend's Brazilian Grand Prix after a disappointing start of the year.
McLaren's David Coulthard is hoping to score his first points of the 2002 season at this weekend's Brazilian Grand Prix after a disappointing start of the year.
The Scot driver, who last year finished runner up to Michael Schumacher in the Championship, has retired from both the Australian and Malaysian Grands Prix due to mechanical problems with his Mercedes-powered McLaren, and is now 14 points behind the Ferrari driver in the standings.
After having won last year's Brazilian Grand Prix, Coulthard is aiming lower this season, and just wants to score his first points to leave his problematic start behind him.
"Although I have a difficult start to the 2002 season, the team does have a package that is capable of winning races and we have all been working hard to increase reliability," said Coulthard in the team's preview.
"Of course the desired outcome for me in Brazil would be a repeat of last year's result, however I am primarily focusing on opening my points tally for 2002."
