Trulli Supports Decision to Race in the US

Italian Jarno Trulli has expressed his shock and sympathy following the terrorist attacks in the United States last Tuesday, but the Jordan driver defended the decision to race.

Some members of the Formula One fraternity have expressed their disagreement with the running of the U.S. Grand Prix on September 30, but Trulli, who ran the New York marathon last year, believes the race should go on as planned.

"I think it is the whole world's tragedy," he said. "We have to look at what is happening and the feeling in the paddock is not the best. No one is happy. Normally Formula One is a celebration but there's nothing to celebrate here when we see what is happening around the world.

"There is stress, everybody is concerned and the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning is to turn the television on to see if there is any news.

We still have to carry on, we have to take care of what is happening but we can't stop otherwise the people that attacked the USA will have won their battle and we cannot let this happen."

The FIA, the sport's ruling body, as well as Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials have said that they have no plans to cancel the event.
