Grapevine: Ralf Unharmed after Road Car Accident

Williams driver Ralf Schumacher escaped unhurt today, after he was involved in a 3-car accident on Germany's A3 highway.

Schumacher was returning from the Essen motorshow, driving a loaned BMW 7 series from the show, when he rear-ended a car on the highway, causing a three-car pile-up ahead of him.

A BMW spokesman confimed the German and the other drivers involved were all unhurt, and said that although the car was damaged in the accident, the young Schumacher was able to drive on with it after the police investigation at the scene of the crash ended.

Ralf has a history of traffic violations: in April this year, he was caught driving at 170 km/h on a road with a 100 km/h speed limit. On that occasion, however, he was driving in Austria and the 2-weeks license suspension he received was only applicable in that region. In Germany, on the other hand, he is still considered a 'first time offender' and will most likely not risk his license being suspended over today's accident.
