Coulthard Plays Down Montoya Hype

Scot driver David Coulthard has refused to get caught up in the hype surrounding BMW-Williams' new driver Juan Pablo Montoya. The McLaren driver is impressed with Montoya's early season performances but said the Colombian driver is just doing what he is paid to do - win points for the BMW-Williams team.

"He is a guy who has got F1 testing experience, European race track experience and then went off to America for a couple of years and I think the press are just trying to be sensational," said Coulthard.

"He is doing what he is paid to do. I am not trying to take anything away from him but you've just got to keep it real. He will win Grands Prix. He is a fast, committed racing driver but I think his team mate is as well."

Coulthard has been impressed with the BMW-Williams team as a whole and believes now they have got the winning feeling - after Ralf Schumacher's triumph in San Marino - they are a force to be reckoned with.

He added: "If Williams get into a winning streak they could well be winning every Grand Prix, but it is too early in the season to say."
