Despite Ferrari's impressive early form, team boss Jean Todt is wary that Formula One can turn around and it could be his team suffering the run of bad luck before the season is over.
Todt sympathised with Mika Hakkinen after he watched the Finn's McLaren grind to a halt on the very last lap of the Spanish Grand Prix, but is realistic and knows there are plenty of twists to come yet.
"It's a championship that has only just started and there are still 12 races left," said Todt. "Hakkinen's run of difficult races could happen to us, so we have to concentrate, work, keep our feet on the ground and try to score points."
Hakkinen's late demise brought another victory to the men from Maranello, but race winner Michael Schumacher consoled Hakkinen after the race.
"They are two great drivers who have respect for one another," said Todt. "Michael has experienced this kind of thing a number of times so he was able to put himself in Hakkinen's place.
