Arrows Launch a Three Seater F1 Car

The Arrows team announced today the launch of the AX3 - a three-seat Formula One car, suitable to carry two passengers, as well as the driver.

The Arrows team announced today the launch of the AX3 - a three-seat Formula One car, suitable to carry two passengers, as well as the driver.

In a statement the team said: "This revolutionary Arrows custom-built passenger car has been designed to carry two passengers, sitting just behind and to each side of the driver. The designers have focused on delivering increased visibility from previous passenger 2-seater cars. Passengers can now experience a totally uncompromised and real driver's view of what Formula One is all about, while maintaining passenger and driver safety.

"Created to give the ultimate passenger experience by riding pillion to an Arrows driver, AX3 has been designed based on Formula One Technical Regulations. In addition to innovation, safety is also of prime importance to the team and the car has been built with this as a key issue in mind. The carbon composite monocoque has been built to achieve maximum structural integrity with no compromise to either driver or passenger safety."

Arrows team chief, Tom Walkinshaw, commented: "The AX3 has been designed to give a truer experience than ever before, of what a Formula One driver sees and feels from the cockpit. A lot has been written about the acceleration, g-forces and braking capabilities of these racing cars, but we are now furthering the opportunity to give people an appreciation of what it's really like."

The team said the AX3 will take to the track from May 2001 in England, but may be taken abroad if required. Arrows plan to offer sponsors and their VIP guests, team supporters and corporate day guests, the use of the AX3, and said it can be used for a wide range of initiatives, promotional purposes and marketing opportunities, including press coverage, high-profile competition prizes, VIP rides, video footage and photography.
