Alonso Vows to Keep Attacking

World Championship leader Fernando Alonso has vowed to keep on attacking this season until the title battle is over

Although the Renault driver has a comfortable 27-point advantage over Kimi Raikkonen with just four races remaining, he is still refusing to accept that he has his first Championship title in the bag.

"There are two ways to look at it," he said on Monday. "Some think that with a 27-point lead and four races to go, I am nearly unbeatable.

"I think the opposite: if I retire from the next two races, everything is still up for grabs. The McLarens are really fast at the moment, and they won't stop pushing until every mathematical chance has disappeared. And I won't stop attacking until the job is done."

Alonso needs to score just 14 points in the remaining races to guarantee the Championship - even if Raikkonen wins each of the Grands Prix. He can wrap up the title if he outscores Raikkonen by four points in this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix.

"We need to aim for the podium at every race, it's the only way to do it," he added.

Looking ahead to the Spa weekend, Alonso said: "Well, we won't be putting our feet up, that's for sure! Like all the drivers, I love Spa and I think we should be competitive there.

"I can't wait to drive through Eau Rouge for the first time this year... The team and the equipment are already travelling there. It has been a long season, but the whole team is giving 100%, and seeing their commitment gives me even more motivation."
