Albers predicts much stronger weekend

Dutchman Christijan Albers expects his Spyker team to show a significant improvement in Malaysia after a disappointing Australian Grand Prix

Albers retired from the season-opening race after making a driver error while running at the back of the field.

Spyker are introducing a big aerodynamic upgrade for the Sepang race, and Albers expects this weekend's race to show the team's real form.

"Malaysia will be much more representative of where we are. We've analysed the data from Australia and hopefully we'll be much better," said Albers.

"Our race pace in the first part of the Australia race was quick, I think we showed a reasonable speed relative to the group I was racing with, but it was a big shame we could not finish as I think we had a chance to stay with them if you look at the laptimes," he added.

"In Malaysia I'm determined to go for it - we've just got to give it our best."

Albers also echoed his teammate Adrian Sutil's thoughts that Spyker will not be at a disadvantage this weekend despite having missed last week's test at Sepang.

"Missing the Sepang test won't put us at a disadvantage. Sometimes, as a team, you have to make a decision and on this occasion the decision was whether to go for the upgrade or go testing.

"It was the team's decision, but ultimately it's very easy. Of course from a racing drivers' point of view you want to test, but I think this is in the best interests of team and at end of day that's what we are - a team."
