Perez: Sauber drive a dream come true
Sergio Perez says landing a deal to race with the Sauber team in Formula 1 next year is a dream come true for him
"It is a dream come true," said Perez, the first Mexican who will compete in Formula 1 since the 1980s.
"I started racing at the age of six and always pushed myself to make it into Formula 1. I had a very difficult time when going alone to Europe - to Germany actually - at the age of 15.
"It was hard but I took my chances. Now I'm looking forward to succeeding in Formula 1."
Perez, the runner-up in this year's GP2 championship, visited the Sauber factory on Wednesday.
He got a seat fitting in preparation for the post-season test at Abu Dhabi, where he will be making his debut at the wheel of an F1 car.
"It is a great factory, it is really huge," he said. "It seems that here you've got all the environment and resources which are needed to build a competitive Formula 1 car and to succeed.
"I hope everything goes well with preparations for the next season, and then we should have a good car."
