Q & A with Sebastien Buemi

As a GP2 graduate going head to head with the more experienced Takuma Sato and Sebastien Bourdais in this week's Toro Rosso testing shoot-out, Sebastien Buemi faced a tough task, but the Swiss driver appeared to acquit himself well even though Sato proved fractionally quicker

With one day of testing still to go, Buemi met reporters at Barcelona to discuss how the crucial week had gone so far.

Q. What are your impressions after these two days?

Sebastien Buemi: Good. Really positive. Really happy with how the day went. We tested a lot of things with the slicks and low downforce. It was the only thing we could test, because we still don't have any parts for next year, but it was really positive and we're quite happy with the results.

Q. So you're trying to simulate 2009 levels of downforce with this year's wings?

SB: We try to simulate it, but it's always really difficult because we still have the bargeboards and stuff like that. But we try as much as we can to simulate it and it gives us a kind of direction for next year already.

Q. Was that mainly on your car and was Sato in a normal Barcelona specification?

SB: No, no. I don't know exactly what he's got, but I don't think he had more downforce. It's not my problem, to be honest.

Q. How were the track conditions?

SB: It followed the normal evolution you have at Barcelona. Yesterday it was really poor in the morning, then it just improved all day. This morning it was really cold so the grip was really aggressive and the engine works well when it's cold.

Q. You did a long run, how were the tyres?

SB: They were good, the tyre evolution was really good. That's why we did the long run, because we don't know anything about these things. We want to understand and to discover as much as possible before next year.

Q. Do you already feel at home in the team?

SB: I feel really good in the team. We tried to do the best job possible, and it's good to have a good relationship with the team obviously because you work with them all the day. We just tried our best and I think we've done a good job up to now.

Q. Do you think there will be an official announcement about the 2009 drivers soon?

SB: This is another question. At the moment, I just try to concentrate on the job because this is the most important thing. If I do a good job, it could be good (for 2009).

Q. One of your family members has been quoted as saying they expect you to be announced soon.

SB: We expect a decision soon. For the team it's really important to make a decision and to try to have a test before Christmas with the proper drivers for next year. But up to now I don't know anything. I just try to do my best, it's the only thing I can do.
