Toyota also test new anvil wing

Toyota have become the latest team to try out an anvil wing engine cover, when Jarno Trulli ran with one for a few laps at Hockenheim on Thursday

The extended cover was created by Red Bull Racing this year and has been raced by Renault, Force India, and Toro Rosso so far.

McLaren also tried out their version at Hockenheim this week and could race with it in the German Grand Prix.

Toyota are now also looking at the concept as they bid to find the improvements they hope will help them in their fight for fourth place in the constructors'cChampionship.

Teammate Timo Glock, who completed his work yesterday, was pleased with the progress Toyota have made at Hockenheim this week, as he hopes a bit of good fortune will help him bounce back from a disappointing performance in Silverstone last weekend.

"I would say this week has not been too bad," he said. "We did all of the programme that we have at every test, and there was quite a lot of stuff for here. The new parts on the car were quite positive - and we did a lot of laps and a lot of set-up work.

"I'm looking forward to racing here. In all the races I have ever done at Hockenheim I finished in the top five, so hopefully that is a good sign.

"You never know when you have a difficult race like Silverstone, you can quickly bounce back to the podium or points. It is like Montreal, every time there I have had good results so hopefully Hockenheim, where I have also had good results, will be the same as well."
