BMW Want to Leave Williams on a High
BMW want to end their partnership with Williams on a high after the Formula One team announced they were switching to Cosworth engines next year
"We would like to wish WilliamsF1 every success with its new partner," said BMW motorsport director Mario Theissen on Monday.
"But before that, a strong finale to the current season is our common goal."
Former Champions Williams, powered by BMW for the last five years in an increasingly uneasy partnership, have yet to win this season and have six more races - including Sunday's inaugural Turkish Grand Prix - to try and do so.
The team are a disappointing fifth in the Constructors' Championship with 52 points, 16 behind Toyota and 65 adrift of leaders Renault.
BMW have already announced that they are buying Swiss-based Sauber to run as their own team from January 2006.
"We offered Frank Williams to supply his team with V8 engines in 2006," said Theissen. "Williams has now decided not to use BMW engines next year.
"This means BMW is free to concentrate its resources on the new project starting in 2006. With a new BMW-managed team we are facing a learning curve.
"We are pleased that Frank Williams has found a good solution for his team."
