Ferrari F2004 Sold for Record Price
Ferrari's Championship-winning F2004 was sold for a record €2.7 million ($3.3 million) in Wednesday's unprecedented auction at the Fiorano circuit
The sale took place in Maranello at Ferrari's Logistics building and included historic and present cars both from Ferrari and Maserati. It was the first time Ferrari put on auction a year-old Formula One car.
Other pieces of Formula One memorabilia included the 049 engine that powered Ferrari's 2001 car and the 047 used with the F310B machine in 1997.
A Ferrari Enzo donated by president Luca di Montezemolo to the recently deceased Pope John Paul II was also on sale, going for over €1 million, which will be donated to help the tsunami victims in Asia.
Over €10 million was raised from the auction.
