Karthikeyan Hopeful of Points Finish

Jordan driver Karthikeyan, driving at Indianapolis for the first time this weekend, will start from 19th position after being outqualified by his teammate Tiago Monteiro and the Minardi of Christijan Albers.

Despite starting from the final row, the Indian is hoping for a top-eight finish.

"I had to start quite early in this qualifying session and the track was still a bit dusty. Therefore, I am pretty satisfied with my time and the balance of the car we have found," said Karthikeyan.

"I think it was, as a whole, a decent lap. The wind was also a bit stronger compared to this morning but generally everything went OK.

"I now hope we will be able to get to the finish line tomorrow and maybe score a point."

Monteiro is also feeling confident for the race after posting the 17th fastest time of the day.

"It was a very good and clean lap," said Monteiro. "Pushing hard, considering the amount of fuel we had, so (I'm) quite happy, really. I didn't know exactly what to expect. The balance is OK. In qualifying, we seem to be good.

"Of course, there are a lot of things you can do with full fuel and stuff. No worries for the race pace. We have always been quicker. Here, our tyres seem to be working very well on long runs. Actually, I'm very confident for the race."
