Grapevine: BAR: No F1 Drive for Patrick
BAR have confirmed that Indy Racing League driver Danica Patrick will not get a demonstration run in one of their cars at this weekend's United States Grand Prix, despite fresh speculation suggesting that a deal had been agreed
Patrick's strong performance in the Indianapolis 500, where she eventually finished fourth, has made her a big-name star in the United States, and there had been suggestions that BAR's engine partner Honda were keen for her to run in one of their cars at Indy.
But even though Patrick will be attending this weekend's event, a BAR spokeswoman told Autosport-Atlas that reports of her getting a run-out were wide off the mark and that there were no plans for her to get into the cockpit of one of their cars.
Speaking about the weekend, Patrick said: "I remember going to the US GP in 2001 and all the American flags after 9-11. It was a spectacular sight. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is just a special place, whether it is for the Indy 500 or the US GP."
