Ferrari Face Difficult Task, Says Todt

The World Champion team again failed to score any points in Barcelona, after Schumacher retired with a double puncture and Rubens Barrichello had to start from the back of the field.

Although the F2005 has shown flashes of speed in the last two races, Todt is well aware that the team are not doing a good enough job at the moment.

"We need to improve," admitted Todt. "It's easy to say but difficult to achieve because our opposition are very strong. We are competitive, but at the moment we don't score points, which is no good.

"Unfortunately it is things that normally happen, because we have been so successful without having any failures and then suddenly they come. It's under our control, it's up to us, we have to work better."

Todt has joined Schumacher in believing that it is too early for Ferrari to give up on the World Championship yet, even though both concede that the 34 points gap to Fernando Alonso is not going to be easy to overhaul.

"It's getting more difficult," conceded Todt. "Every race where the others score six, eight, ten points more than you, it makes it more difficult. But it's a long Championship, there are 14 races to go.
 
"We have been like this already in the past. We like winning, but we accept losing. But if you ask me which I prefer, the answer is easy. We don't do a good enough job, that's clear. We're not going to find excuses."
