Schumacher 'Surprised' by Imola Pace
World Champion Michael Schumacher admitted his team's pace at the San Marino Grand Prix two weeks ago had taken him by surprise, but he remained cautious on Ferrari's chances of winning the Spanish Grand Prix this Sunday
"At Imola I was very surprised by the speed we were able to sustain during the race," Schumacher told reporters at Barcelona yesterday. "It was above every prediction, and we hope we'll be able to do that here too.
"Our situation is 90% good, but this doesn't mean we have victory in our hands," the German added. "We'll be competitive here too, but I don't know how much because the conditions change quickly in F1, including the weather, which could be different from when we were testing here."
Schumacher also welcomed rival Juan Pablo Montoya, who returns to racing this weekend after being absent from the last couple Grands Prix due to injury.
"Montoya is back? I'm happy about it," Schumacher said, adding: "I expect the McLaren to be particularly fast [this weekend]."
