Montoya to Attend San Marino GP

The Colombian has been out of action since injuring his shoulder in a reported tennis accident and, although he has welcomed being able to spend time at home with new son Sebastian, it is believed that he has got frustrated with being away from Grand Prix action.

Although it was originally expected that Montoya would be fit to return for Imola, it is looking increasingly likely that he will have to miss this race as well. He is believed to have visited a specialist to try and speed up his healing process, but it is now probable that he will only be back in action for the Spanish Grand Prix on May 8.

A final decision from Montoya and the team is expected to be made next week, but irrespective of whether he races or not sources close to him have told Autosport-Atlas that he will almost certainly attend the San Marino Grand Prix anyway.

If Montoya is not fit, then the team's reserve driver Alexander Wurz is favourite to land the race drive alongside Kimi Raikkonen after getting himself comfortable in the MP4-20 over the past two weeks of testing.
