BRDC Meets over Stewart Presidency
Jackie Stewart will find out later today when his future as President of the British Racing Drivers' Club will be decided, with board members due to meet later to set a date for an Extraordinary General Meeting
As Autosport-Atlas exclusively revealed last week, a percentage of the BRDC board has pushed for a vote on Stewart's role as President before the Annual General Meeting, which is scheduled for May 26. The only way this can be organised is via an EGM, the date of which is to be determined by the BRDC board
The speculation over Stewart's future as President has been increasing as part of an acrimonious dispute with the BRDC's former club chairman, Ray Bellm. He was removed from his post in a vote of no-confidence in January.
Stewart remains defiant about his position and is determined to wait until the EGM before making any decision about his future.
"I was voted back in at the last AGM and it would be wrong for me to walk away," he told Autosport. "If I am to be removed I want a properly convened meeting first."
