BAR Still Targeting Wins

The Honda-powered squad's season continued in the doldrums, with neither Briton Jenson Button nor Japan's Takuma Sato finishing for the third race in a row.

Button succumbed to a problem with his clutch after he had lost all chances of scoring points when he stalled his car on his final pitstop.

"I couldn't get it into first gear," explained the Briton. "During the race I was getting some pretty bad gear shifts, I noticed it probably about 20 laps into the race. We also had issue with brakes so it wasn't the easiest race. There was only one lap in the race where I could actually push because I was looking after the brakes.

"The pace wasn't too bad but we need to work on the reliability at the moment. That's the biggest thing we are going to be testing next week. We will have a stronger car for Imola but we know it's just working on the reliability at the moment."

Teammate Sato retired from the race on lap 28 with brake problems, leaving BAR as the only team apart from Minardi and Jordan who are yet to score points.

Despite their poor start to the season, however, Fry says the team are targeting wins.

"It was encouraging that Jenson and Taku were able to run in point-scoring positions and for our pit crew to be able to beat Ferrari in a back to back pit stop race.  Obviously it was very disappointing that both cars should stop with different problems, and for Jenson so late in the race when he was on target for a good points finish. 

"We now need to regroup and implement both aerodynamic performance improvements and reliability measures before Imola, where we plan to kick off the European season with some points. 

"The team remain focused on our goal of winning a race this season and with 16 rounds to go and knowing the depth of resource, skill and strength of character in our team, we can still meet our objective."
