Dominguez set for Midland talks

Despite earlier reports that Dominguez has publicly ruled himself out of contention for a drive with Jordan, autosport.com has subsequently learned that the Mexican is still pushing hard for his F1 opportunity.

He has been in talks with Midland F1 chiefs about a drive in 2006, when the team was originally going to hit the track, and some speculation has even suggested that informal offers have been made to him about a drive.

Now his talks with Midland F1 boss Alex Shnaider, due to talk place in Toronto, Canada, could move him a step nearer his F1 dream as soon as this season.

Dominguez's manager Henri Luzet told autosport.com: "I am working hard to put him in the team as soon as possible. We know there is a great chance for Mario to get up to speed and learn about F1 with Jordan."

Although Dominguez has a contract to race for Keith Wiggins' HVM team in the Champ Car World Series, it is understood that there are get out clauses that would allow him and his sponsors the chance to make the switch to F1 if there was an opportunity.
