Prac 2: Kimi strikes back

McLaren proved it will be a force to be reckoned with in this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix as Kimi Raikkonen put Ferrari's Michael Schumacher in the shade for once, beating the German by 0.125sec in the second free practice session at the Hungaroring

Raikkonen was the only driver to dip into the 1m20s bracket with a lap of 1m20.884s, which was 0.125sec clear of Schumacher. Juan Pablo Montoya was next up in the 're-nosed' Williams, ahead of the second McLaren of David Coulthard.

Olivier Panis kept up his good form in the revised Toyota TF104B to record the fifth fastest time, despite a quick off at Turn 5 late in the session, ahead of Takuma Sato (BAR) and Antonio Pizzonia (Williams). Jenson Button was eighth in the second BAR, a few hundredths faster than Rubens Barrichello's Ferrari.

Last year's winner Fernando Alonso was down in 10th, with Mark Webber right on his tail in the Jaguar. Anthony Davidson was a surprisingly lowly 12th, only just ahead of Jaguar tester Bjorn Wirdheim. The Jordans of Nick Heidfeld and Timo Glock were next up, ahead of Giancarlo Fisichella's Sauber. Both he and team-mate Felipe Massa visited the Turn 4 gravel during the session.

Monaco GP winner Jarno Trulli was down in 17th, ahead of Toyota's Ricardo Zonta. Friday testing freshman Ryan Briscoe ended the day in 21st place, having impressed in the first session.
