Glock to make race debut

Glock has driven in all Friday free practice sessions this year, and due to Pantano's internal dispute between his management and his family, Timo was called up to replace him.

"It's a sad situation for Giorgio, but Timo is the natural choice to replace him," said Jordan. "I rang him up to tell him to get himself to the track because he's going to be a busy boy today."

Jordan has drawn parallels between Glock's call-up and that of Michael Schumacher, to replace Bertrand Gachot, in 1991 in the Belgian Grand Prix.

"The story goes on - Jordan is once again able to help a young German driver make his grand prix debut," said Jordan. "It's a fantastic story that we've taken Timo into our driver academy and now he's getting his chance. How good is he? We don't know that, but we didn't know how good Michael Schumacher was before he came to our team.

"Timo has the benefit of a hugely experienced team-mate in Nick Heidfeld. He's very helpful, a really nice guy, so he couldn't be making his F1 debut in a better situation."
