Kiesa aims to stay
Minardi refugee Nicolas Kiesa has set his sights on remaining in Formula 1 this season. Speaking at AUTOSPORT International, Kiesa said that he is looking at various test driver roles for 2004, and hasn't given up hope of securing a race deal with Jordan
The Danish driver was given his F1 break by the small Italian team when Justin Wilson switched to Jaguar mid-season. However, Minardi has already confirmed that it will run Zsolt Baumgartner and Gianmaria Bruni in 2004, leaving Kiesa to look elsewhere.
Jordan is the only team with any seats remaining, although several teams still have vacancies for test drivers. Kiesa would be able to perform such a role because he has only driven in five grands prix.
"I love F1, and I had the time of my life last year," said Kiesa. "It's an environment that is very controlled by money, but I was able to look beyond that and enjoy the pure driving and working with the best mechanics and engineers in the world.
"At the moment I haven't got a seat for next year, but I'm working very hard with my backing in Denmark to achieve a drive, at least as a test driver. There are a few drives available, and even a race drive with Jordan. But it's all controlled by money.
"At the moment my manager is in China trying to sort some sponsorship out. He's talking to Jaguar, although I'm not sure if he's talking to Jordan - he doesn't tell me too much because he says I get too excited."
