Barcelona 3: Montagny again
Franck Montagny returned to the top of the timesheets as the weather cleared in Barcelona testing today (Thursday). The Renault driver shifted his focus to suspension work for the R24 today but retained his quick pace from Tuesday's dry running
The track was damp in the morning, which allowed Montagny the opportunity to try wet tyre solutions during the early going. This brought to an end a productive week's testing which was dominated by Montagny. The Frenchman completed 1307km in the three days.
McLaren drivers Alex Wurz and David Coulthard lined up behind the Renault, and they in turn were followed by the Toyota pair of Ricardo Zonta and Ryan Briscoe.
New Jaguar signing Christian Klien was within a second and a half of the pace today, whilst Renault development driver Heikki Kovalainen was 1.6 seconds back from his illustrious test team leader.
The Barcelona track will not host any further testing this year, as the circuit will be undergoing modifications in mid-December. The hairpin at the end of the back straight is to be reprofiled.
