Ralf: I'll help Juan beat Michael to title
Ralf Schumacher insists he has not given up on his own world championship aspirations, but has admitted he will help Williams-BMW team-mate Juan Pablo Montoya to beat his brother Michael of Ferrari to the title
Schumacher's retirement in last Sunday's German Grand Prix means he has dropped 12 points behind Montoya in the points race. He also has the penalty of losing 10 positions on the Hungarian Grand Prix grid hanging over his head should an appeal by the team fail later this month.
"I am an employee of BMW-Williams so if such a situation arose I would help my team-mate, even if my heart perhaps wants a Schumacher to win the title," said Ralf. "Formula 1 is not a walk in the park and Michael knows that too. There is a lot of money involved and if there is a chance for my team to be world champions, I will give my all."
Schumacher Jr is 18 points behind his championship-leading brother, and still harbours hope of winning the title for himself.
"I have not given up on the world championship," he added. "After the bad luck I have had I now have to look on the bright side. I still have hope."
