Jordan: undermined by oversteer
Giancarlo Fisichella's 1m26s first qualifying lap must have felt like a bus ride after the Jordan driver's 1m15 in practice, on a dry track. Ninth quickest in practice translated to 14th in qualifying, which didn't please the wet weather maestro
"I'm not too happy with how it went," he said. "The car had a lot of oversteer during the lap and the grip was not good - I don't know why. I'm hoping for a better day tomorrow."
Team-mate Ralf Firman has little in the way of experience to compare his efforts against, but he held his own against fellow rookie Justin Wilson, in 16th, just failing to leapfrog the overdriving Juan Pablo Montoya by 0.1s.
"We had quite a bit of oversteer and qualifying was only my second timed lap in the rain," he said. "I'm looking forward to tomorrow."
Technical director Gary Anderson had less success in hiding his disappointment on this, Jordan's 200th grand prix weekend: "I'm very disappointed," he said. "One way or another we weren't able to get on top of it today but we are working hard to make sure we fulfil our potential this weekend."
