Stewart plays down Ferrari dominance

Jackie Stewart has spoken out against claims that Ferrari's dominance is bad for Formula 1

In an interview with The Times, Stewart said: "I don't even like this talk of the great dominance of Ferrari. Let's get real. They've just won for three years. This is sport - things don't always go the way you'd like them to."

Speaking about new regulations which could curb Ferrari's dominance next year, Stewart added: "The job of sport is not to share out the honours equally. The job of sport is to find the strongest, fastest, highest, longest, whatever.

"Today, the public apparently demands fair competition and that means everyone coming up to the line together, doesn't it? And a different driver winning every time."

Stewart also ominously claimed that Michael Schumacher is still improving.

"I'll tell you something that'll have them all panicking: I believe Schumacher is still on the way up. If he's already got five world titles to his name already, I could see him getting another three or four, maybe more.

"I would not be at all surprised if the nonsense over the past few months has made him even more determined to stay at the top for longer."
