Silverstone reacts to critic Ecclestone
Silverstone has responded to the criticism from Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone following this year's British Grand Prix by promising further improvements to facilities at the track
Ecclestone slammed the organisation of the road system within the circuit this year. The approaches to the circuit had been the subject of debate in the past, but congestion was wiped out by the use of the new but still-incomplete by-pass.
Now Silverstone, race promoter Octagon Motorsports, track owner the British Racing Drivers' Club and Formula One Management have joined forces to announce their intention to continue to improve facilities for the paying public at next year's British GP.
The directional signage within the circuit that Ecclestone was so critical of has been targeted in particular, along with the catering, retail and toilet facilities.
The work will begin immediately and is scheduled to be finished by May next year.
The BRDC, FOM and Octagon are also entering the final phase of re-development of the pits and paddock complex, the media centre and the race control building. This will be completed by 2004.
