Montoya expects Michelin to bounce back
Juan Pablo Montoya is confident that Michelin will give Williams a tyre that will allow him to challenge for victory at next weekend's French GP. At Silverstone the Colombian's charge was blunted by the poor performance of the French company's wet rubber, but he reckons that it will pull out all the stops for its home race
"It's Michelin's home ground and this makes it even more interesting," he said. "According to the development schedule the team should benefit from some new tyres, which will allow us to perform more consistently in the French GP."
Team-mate Ralf Schumacher reckons the revisions made to the FW24 have greatly improved the car's performance and is hoping for a dry race so that its full potential can be realised.
"The new aero package and our hard work testing tyres and traction control have pushed us forward and have made us more competitive," he said. "We are improving step by step and the same should be true at Magny-Cours."
Schumacher could help his brother win the world championship by beating Montoya and Rubens Barrichello to second place in France, however, he's says that he doesn't intend to deliberately help Michael out.
"To be honest, I don't feel like congratulating my brother on his world championship victory in France," he admitted. "I would prefer to delay this as much as possible!"
