Salo forced out with stomach bug
Toyota's Mika Salo will play no further part in today(Friday)'s free practice sessions due to a stomach complaint
The Finnish driver completed a single out lap in the first session, but has been forced to retreat to the motorhome. "The doctor has advised that Mika should rest," said a team statement.
Salo himself said: "I did not feel too well when I woke up this morning. I went out at the beginning of session one to do an installation lap to see if the car was okay, but my stomach was really painful. Our team doctor, Riccardo Ceccarelli, examined me and said that I have a kind of stomach infection. He recommended I rest today and is quite confident that I can drive again tomorrow."
It is unclear if this will keep him out of the driving seat for the weekend, and whether Toyota might need to call on one of its test drivers, either Stephane Sarrazin or Australia's Ryan Briscoe. The latter is contesting the F3000 race at Silverstone.
With Salo out, and the Arrows pair stranded in the garage, there has effectively only been 19 cars on track at Silverstone today.
