Jordan launch: Honda's power pledge
Honda has promised Jordan and British American Racing that its new Formula 1 engines will be a marked improvement over the disappointing performance of last year's units
Speaking at the launch of Jordan's new EJ12 challenger at Brussels Airport this morning (Friday), the Japanese manufacturer's head of racing technology development, Toru Ogawa, said: "I'm excited. Jordan has some new engineers and talented drivers. We will do better this year. It is a brand new design and is lighter and has more power, with a wider vee angle, which means a lower centre of gravity."
Meanwhile, Jordan has come up with a radical-looking car that technical director Eghbal Hamidy hopes will mate perfectly to the Honda. But the EJ12's striking look does not mean that the car is a revolutionary design.
"The Jordan-Honda EJ12 is the culmination of a great deal of work from a very diligent group of individuals," Hamidy explained. "Although it looks quite different, the overall design is based on the EJ11 but with some major changes specifically to the front and rear suspension."
