Burti delighted with Ferrari test role
Luciano Burti has declared himself over the moon at landing a test role with the world championship-winning Ferrari team for next year
Burti lost his seat at Prost Grand Prix after crashing out of the Belgian Grand Prix earlier this year when the Brazilian suffered minor head injuries after hitting a tyre wall head on at 120 mph.
However, the Burti is to make a return to F1 and the 26-year-old was announced as Ferrari's second test driver last week and will work alongside existing development driver Luca Badoer.
"It is fantastic to be able to work with a team like Ferrari," said Burti. "I am really very pleased. From a professional point of view, I am aware of the importance of the role of test driver in a team like Ferrari, which is fighting for the championship title."
Burti spent a year as test driver for the Jaguar Racing team in 2000 and graduated to a race set at the beginning of this year before switching to Prost mid-season. He is expected to start work in January on Ferrari's car for 2002.
