Verstappen tops Autosport readers' F1 driver ratings after German GP

Max Verstappen surged into the lead of Autosport readers' 2019 Formula 1 driver ratings after his German Grand Prix victory

The Red Bull driver is now on an average of 8.47 out of 10 in the ratings, decided by Autosport Plus subscribers' votes after every grand prix.

The 9.0 average Verstappen received from your votes took him past Lewis Hamilton to top the overall rankings, with the world championship leader now on an 8.14 average having only scored 4.7 out of 10 from you for his messy Hockenheim race.

Verstappen was already atop Autosport's own average ratings, decided by our Grand Prix Editor Edd Straw, with Hamilton only third in that table behind McLaren's star underdog Carlos Sainz Jr.

Sainz has impressed the readers too - he's third in that table, ahead of Valtteri Bottas and Charles Leclerc.

Other changes as a result of the Hockenheim scores include George Russell nosing ahead of fellow British rookie Lando Norris to sixth in the readers' table by just 0.01.

Toro Rosso heroes Alex Albon and Daniil Kvyat have now jumped into the top 10 at the expense of Daniel Ricciardo and Sergio Perez.

Sebastian Vettel's charge from 20th to second has not helped his cause - though it earned him an 8.5 out of 10 average from readers, he remains only 14th in the overall table for the season.

Beleaguered Red Bull driver Pierre Gasly remains at the foot of the rankings, behind Lance Stroll and Robert Kubica, on a 5.35 out of 10 average for the season.
