F1 testing schedule trundles on
With the race in Australia ending more than 48 hours ago, Formula 1 teams are already turning their attention to the next race in Malaysia, and as the relentless quest for improvement continues, the testing mill will grind on tomorrow (Wednesday) with five outfits taking to the track
The Malaysian Grand Prix is just 11 days away, and the majority of teams and drivers are making the trip directly to Kuala Lumpur from Melbourne - more than likely via a Pacific beach - leaving testing duties to the test and reserve drivers.
Five teams are expected to be in action tomorrow at Silverstone and Magny-Cours. The McLaren-Mercedes team will be attempting to hone the pace of its MP4-16 at the French Grand Prix venue tomorrow (Wednesday) until Friday.
The Woking-based team was overshadowed for pace by rivals Ferrari in Australia, and Mika Hakkinen was put out of the race with a front suspension failure. Test driver Alex Wurz will likely be behind the wheel at the Nevers circuit.
A much bigger gathering will take place at Silverstone, where Williams, BAR, local team Jordan and Arrows will all be present. As in France, the running is expected to take place over three days with all four teams using their test drivers. Johnny Herbert is expected to get his first run for Arrows since signing for the Leafield-based outfit as development driver last month.
