Pole-sitter Schuey will aim for a win in Malaysia

The German set a new personal best as he took his ninth pole of the season by four-tenths of a second and now just needs to finish in the top four to secure the constructors' championship for Maranello for the second year in succession.

It is the first time he has started from pole four races on the trot, and his 32nd pole matches Nigel Mansell's record as the fourth highest of all time.

"I am very relaxed about the race," he said. "I am four and half tenths faster than the rest and we all free to race because the drivers' championship is already decided.

"We are still racing for the constructors' championship and it is very
important to us, but it will take a miracle for us not to secure those three points. That means I am free to race without pressure and I will win if possible."

He admitted his abiding feeling was disappointment for team mate Rubens
Barrichello, who was bumped off the front row in the final seconds of the session. Last minute flying laps by Mika Hakkinen and David Coulthard demoted the Brazilian from second to fourth in a matter of seconds.

Barrichello, struggling with a heavy head cold, turned away in disgust from the timing monitor as his name slid down the time sheets in the dying seconds of the session.

He needs to win the race and have Coulthard finish out of the points, to grab third place in the drivers' championship.

"I feel sorry for Rubens. He has quite a tough flu right now and is not too well," said Schumacher. "Seeing he was second boosted him but suddenly then dropping down third, then fourth, he was naturally disappointed. But the race is long , we know have a good car, so lets see what happens."
