Williams can score on 600th GP celebration, insists Pastor Maldonado
Pastor Maldonado believes he can score a points finish to add gloss to Williams's 600th grand prix celebrations at Silverstone this weekend
The Venezuelan says that the high-speed sweeps of Silverstone should suit the FW35, giving Williams chance to end its point-less 2013 run.
"We will do our best this weekend to improve our performance, and we have some new parts on the car," said Maldonado.
"Hopefully, at this kind of track with high-speed corners, a different philosophy of circuit, it will be a bit better for us. Usually we are more competitive because of the types of corner.
"Not to win the race, we've got to be realistic, but maybe we can get closer to the top 10. We're looking forward to being in the top 10 on Sunday."
Maldonado acknowledges that the pressure is on to register points as he approaches the midpoint of the season.
"It's getting late already," he said. "We have great potential - this car is quick. We just need to put everything together.
"At the moment we can't, but we're trying to do our best and are working hard. It's not easy, but at the same time it's not impossible to score points."
"The parts we have brought so far, maybe they were good, but we've not been able to validate them and understand the tyres more. So far, the aero [balance] has just not been working together [front to rear] in the slower corners."
Maldonado said he is honoured to be a part of Williams as it celebrates its 600th grand prix this weekend.
"It's such a good feeling to be part of this historical moment," he said. "It means we're very busy this week, but I'm enjoying the moments; it's very special - not all teams achieve 600 grands prix."
