Sainz does the best final sector of anyone so far and pinches fifth from Gasly.

Verstappen passed Hartley with a fairly forceful move at Turn 6 to avoid the spray from the Toro Rosso on the outlap - welcome to Q3, Brendon.

McLaren told Alonso "We've seen someone do a 28.7 in the final sector, so there is a possibility". The inevitable comeback: "Yes, and nine seconds lost in the second sector, I saw the TV as well!"
There was one small last-gasp improvement there on the final laps on wets - Ricciardo got ahead of Hulkenberg for 12th.

Alonso is asked what tyres McLaren should run on at the end of the session and snaps back "run whatever tyres you want" when told he'd have time for just one lap at the end of the session if he came in and waited to see the conditions change. Bit touchy.
Ericsson goes very wide at the exit of Turn 5 - all four wheels off the track there.
Magnussen returned to the pits on the blue-walled tyres, but Ericsson is continuing to lap.
