But if you watched yesterday's Formula 2 race, you'll know that a bit of drizzle at Paul Ricard is a pretty entertaining thing.
There is officially a 60% chance of rain in this race. There is factually 0% rain at present.
How much does that front row sweep have to do with Mercedes' delayed 'phase 2.1' engine arriving this weekend? Hamilton and Bottas were non-committal on that point yesterday, but team boss Toto Wolff reckons the engine's lateness has proved to be a bonus:
Mercedes rewarded for Formula 1 engine upgrade delay
Expect a one-stop race today, with tyre degradation having not been much of a factor in practice. There will be some strategic variation at least - Ferrari starts on ultrasofts having used those in Q2, Red Bull and Mercedes are on supersofts.
It wasn't a Mercedes walkover in qualifying yesterday, but it was a fairly straightforward process towards the front row for Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas. Here's the full grid line-up:

1 Hamilton
2 Bottas
3 Vettel
4 Verstappen
5 Ricciardo
6 Raikkonen
7 Sainz
8 Leclerc
9 Magnussen
10 Grosjean
11 Ocon
12 Hulkenberg
13 Perez
14 Gasly
15 Ericsson
16 Alonso
17 Vandoorne
18 Sirotkin
19 Stroll
20 Hartley
Welcome to our live coverage of Formula 1's first French Grand Prix in 10 years. We're not expecting a 1990-style, Leyton House-style underdog shock today - but if the hoped-for rain turns up mid-race then you never know...
