F1 Mexican GP Live Commentary and Updates - FP3 & Qualifying

Saturday's action ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix

Sergio Perez, Red Bull Racing RB18

Although the F1 titles are already sewn up in favour of Max Verstappen and Red Bull, the final three races will shape the rest of the championship order, as Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez battle over the runner-up spot in the championship.

Carlos Sainz and George Russell headed Friday's practice sessions as the day was dominated by the reveal of Red Bull's cost cap punishment - and the team received a $7m fine and a 10% reduction in aerodynamic testing for next season.

Aston Martin also received a fine for its procedural breach of the cost cap rules, totalling $450k.

Given the disruption to Friday's action, this could be an important session for the teams and will be intriguing to see if it sheds any more light on this weekend's likely running order.
Right, this is now your five-minute warning before FP3 begins!

In terms of yesterday's running, it was another disrupted day as a combination of a crash for Charles Leclerc and more testing of Pirelli's 2023 tyres meant there was little meaningful action in Mexico. But, here's ALEX KALINAUCKAS's guide to what we did learn:

But, it's now eight minutes until we're due to have cars on track so let's focus on the racing rather than off-track shenanigans. And we promise not to mention the words 'cost cap' over the next hour or so. Or we'll try at least.
While this may be the antepenultimate round of the 2022 F1 season, all the paddock talk remains very focused on 2021 as the Red Bull cost cap breach saga rumbles on. For those of you who may not have heard, the team was fined $7m and will have a 10% reduction in windtunnel time for its rules breach - but, inevitably, neither side is happy...
It's now just over 10 minutes until final practice is due to begin and we've then got qualifying coming up at 9pm BST.
