Sainz is now up to third - Ferrari showing a decent turn of pace at this circuit so far.
Gasly then goes third-quickest, as Hamilton asks for more front wing to dial out some understeer in the car.
Alonso gets up to third on his first soft-tyre run, as Tsunoda pokes in a laptime good enough for fourth.
Hamilton goes up to second, going 0.3s slower than Bottas' time.
Bottas pumps in a 1m17.616s on the soft tyre, flooding the timing screens in a full house of purple sectors.
Ocon's having a good session so far, currently sitting fourth in the Alpine. Stroll, meanwhile, has moved up to 15th.
The first 20 minutes of the session are now over, with the majority of cars retreating to the pits to comb over the data from the opening raft of laps.
Hamilton is currently seventh-fastest in this session - he's won at the Hungaroring eight times - a joint record with Michael Schumacher for wins at a single circuit.
Tsunoda had a spin in sector 2 to bring out a brief yellow, but he's got going once again as Sainz moves up to third.
Oop, Alonso's had a spin at Turn 4, but gets it turned around and back on the road.
It's now a 1m19.069s for Verstappen, as it seems the powertrain is suffering no ill-effects from his crash at Silverstone after Honda gave it a service.
Verstappen has taken the times down to a 1m19.366s, with Hamilton and Bottas moving up to second and third.
Hungary has only ever had one driver in F1 - Zsolt Baumgartner, who drove for Jordan as a substitute for Ralph Firman in 2003 and full-time at Minardi in 2004.
Verstappen now goes top with a 1m19.725s, on the hard tyre.
We've almost a full circuit of cars, running on the hard or medium tyres. Fernando Alonso, who turned 40 yesterday, goes fourth fastest.
Bottas explains the brake pedal is "terribly soft" - so Mercedes might have to get the brake bleed kit out.
That's immediately beaten by Daniel Ricciardo in the McLaren, who sets a 1m21.317s, before Gasly and Bottas get into the 1m20s.
