That's all for now, but join us a little bit later once we get into full qualifying!

See you in a couple of hours.

Russell: "I was never really concerned, Miami is a bit of a bogey track. But there's this huge break in the calendar, so lots of people with a lot of things to say. But I just wanted to get back racing, and I feel like this season's going to really start now."

There's the replay of Piastri making a ballsy move at Turn 14, which allowed Leclerc to trickle past.

"I need to review on that, because I was quite well alongside (at Turn 1)", Antonelli said. "But it was a good battle."

"It was good to watch them go at it for a little while, but we were there to pick up the pieces when it happened," Norris said.

Antonelli fumed a little bit more at the end there, and Wolff had to intervene again.

Cordial-ish handshake between them.

Colapinto and Sainz complete the top 10, with an excellent 11th for Perez - although he's relegated to 14th after getting a penalty for shoving Lawson off the road.

So, Lawson gets P11, ahead of Bortoleto and Ocon.

Russell wins the Canadian GP sprint race

It's as you were: Russell holds on, capitalising on the Norris-Antonelli battle to win by 1.2s.

Piastri gets fourth - just, as Leclerc found a sudden burst of pace and captures fifth, with Hamilton sixth. Verstappen and Lindblad complete the top eight.

Antonelli tries to steam around the outside of Norris, but goes off at Turn 1 - and has to give the place back.

Piastri repasses Hamilton, who is also overlapped by Leclerc!

Norris gets an iffy exit from the hairpin, which could open the door to Antonelli. He just about defends, but the Italian has another go...

Russell's prognosis looks a lot better now, as he's been able to keep Norris in his pocket. Piastri continues to press Hamilton.

Will we get a final showdown?

Norris stays within overtake range this time around, as the top three encounter traffic; Bottas and Stroll duly get out of the way.

Hamilton, for his part, tapped the wall of champions while defending from Piastri.

Not that the TV cameras want to show it - they're more interested in Gasly having a pitstop.

Russell creaks open the gap a little bit more to 0.8s there, which will be a welcome boost.

Hulkenberg gets a 10-second penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage.

Russell continues to hang on here, as Norris is struggling to close up the half-second gap to the Mercedes. Antonelli is here to pick up any pieces that emerge.

Colapinto's charge for eighth and the final point appears to have stalled out.

Russell complains about Albon, who duly gets out of the way. It's bunched up the top three, however, with Norris just 0.5s behind once more.

Hamilton and Piastri appear to have dropped Leclerc a bit.

Norris is being given a few bits of advice to try and mount his assault on Russell. Albon, who's stopped, has emerged in front of them.

Verstappen's picking up the pace a little bit here, but does he have enough time for a late charge on Leclerc?

Russell continues to get good exits out of the hairpin, with Norris and Antonelli all very close. Hamilton also has Piastri and Leclerc for company, so two groups of three.

Gasly passes Hulkenberg for 15th.

Norris has been gapped a little bit here, as Russell has dug a bit of extra pace out.

Perez, meanwhile, is gaining on Ocon for 11th...

Norris needs a big run out of the hairpin to make the move work here, but Russell is just keeping his fellow Briton at bay.

Leclerc is gathering a bit more speed and chasing Piastri for fifth. Verstappen is a further two seconds behind.

Norris has closed the gap again, and it's now about half a second. Can the McLaren driver make a late play for the win?

Leclerc and Verstappen remain sixth and seventh, and don't look upwardly mobile at the moment.

Colapinto is slightly closing the gap to Lindblad in the battle for the last point.

Russell is 0.7s clear of Norris, the gap has stabilised for now. It appears that Antonelli has also stabilised, as Hamilton is now over a second behind. Piastri is staying in touch.

...Antonelli holds into Turn 1, but Hamilton is keeping very much in touch with his Mercedes successor.

Colapinto has passed Sainz for 10th, but has about four seconds to make up to challenge Lindblad for a point.

Hadjar unretires.

Russell is still under pressure from Norris, and being told his front tyre temperatures are too low.

Meanwhile, Hamilton has a look at Antonelli...

Norris is now within a second of Russell here, but Antonelli's closing in on him.

Antonelli seemed to brake a little bit deep into Turn 8 on that lap, so it might not entirely be on Russell.

Hadjar retires.

"That should be a penalty, I was alongside the mirror," Antonelli protests. Pete Bonnington tells him to keep it cool, and stabilise as he's got Hamilton behind him.

Antonelli continues to be irritated by Russell's moves, however; Wolff intervenes on the radio.

...and Antonelli tries a move around the outside into Turn 1, but Russell covers that off and the Italian goes off.

Antonelli battles back, but has another off at Turn 8 as Russell continues to defend - which opens the door for Norris to take second!

"That was very naughty," Antonelli complains. We need to see that again, as it got covered by a replay of the first incident.

Hadjar's fallen down the order, nursing an engine problem. Lindblad moves into the top eight.

Antonelli's right on Russell's tail, and the two get very close into the chicane...

Mercedes put a lot of attention on their starts, so it seems that the Silver Arrows have made progress here - the short run to Turn 1 obviously being a benefit.

Antonelli is within 0.4s of Russell now - give us a battle, gents.

The Mercs have already dropped Norris, who is keeping Hamilton at bay for now.

Hadjar is clinging onto Verstappen, while Lindblad remains ninth on the hard tyre.

Perez is up to 13th on those softs, while Hulkenberg is looking to put a move on Alonso after his earlier off.

Antonelli is pushing Russell all the way here, just 0.5s between them.

Hulkenberg had Colapinto behind him, but the Argentine made a forceful move into Turn 8.

Stroll is up and running, albeit last, and with a potential enquiry hanging over him for a start procedure infringement.

The Canadian GP sprint race is away!

Russell and Antonelli get reasonable starts, as Hamilton wheels around the outside of Piastri for fourth. Colapinto has dispatched both Audis, who have both dropped back.

Russell holds from Antonelli.

Formation lap

And the cars make their way around the circuit for the formation lap, so this is the opportunity to charge the battery and warm up the tyres.

Tyre watch

Soft: Perez, Bottas, Stroll.
Hard: Lindblad
Mediums: everyone else

Just five minutes to go until lights out now! Hydration check: don't forget to drink some water.

Lance Stroll may not start this race with a front suspension issue, although he's in the car...so he might be okay.

Just 20 minutes to go now, and the cars are on the grid and ready.

Lawson sits 18th and at the back of the grid; he missed most of yesterday's running after a hydraulics issue.

His team got in a spot of trouble with the stewards as the Kiwi's neutral button didn't work when the marshals tried to roll his car away.

“A serious matter” – why the FIA hit Racing Bulls with a €30,000 fine when Lawson stopped on track

Weather watch

It's about 20C in Montreal, with a 30C track temperature - certainly colder to the touch than yesterday.

No rain expected. Tomorrow's forecast doesn't look quite as clement, however...

Bearman, Gasly, Bottas, and Albon will all start from the pitlane for this one, presumably bearing plenty of set-up changes after lacking performance overall in sprint qualifying.

Albon, for his part, missed sprint quali entirely after hitting a groundhog in practice, precipitating a crash. RIP Groundhog, we hardly knew you.
