Updates on the Formula 1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone

Carlos Sainz, Ferrari F1-75, Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes W13, Charles Leclerc, Ferrari F1-75, Nicholas Latifi, Williams FW44, practice their start procedures at the end of FP3

Max Verstappen extended his lead in the F1 world drivers’ championship to 46 points with victory at the Canadian GP last time out, as Red Bull team-mate Sergio Perez failed to finish and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc recovered to fifth place after a back of the grid penalty for an engine change.

A number of teams have delivered car upgrades ahead of the Silverstone round, which is set to play out in front of a sold-out crowd.

MercedesLewis Hamilton won the British GP last year, following a controversial first-corner clash with Verstappen.

We've had a lot of action in this race, and get ready for a stormer of a finale. Leclerc takes control of the field.
The reason for Ocon's retirement is believed to be a fuel pump issue.
The safety car is in this lap - so it will be a 10-lap sprint to the finish.
As the order shuffles itself out its Vettel in P7 ahead of Magnussen, Verstappen and Schumacher. Magnussen appeared to stay out during the safety car period.
Norris, who pits a lap later than the rest to go to softs, loses a spot to Alonso and drops to sixth place.
"This is going to be hard," Leclerc says when he's informed both Sainz and Hamilton are on the softs. Literally, because Leclerc is still on the hards.
Vettel maintains P7 after electing to stop under the stoppage. Verstappen reclaims P8 but both Haas cars are now in the points. Schumacher sits ninth with Magnussen rounding out the top 10, with 12 laps remaining.
Perez is also a big winner in this, as he was due to pit very shortly, so he gets a freebie under the safety car as he keeps fourth and comes out on the softs.
Sainz and Hamilton both pit under the safety car for fresh softs - but Leclerc, in the lead, hasn't! More drama!
The Safety car has been deployed due to Ocon's stricken Alpine on the way to Copse corner.
Ocon is now slowly on the way to Copse and he stops on the track from P8.
Gasly has now joined the list of retirements that stands at five drivers. Gasly, Bottas, Russell, Zhou and Albon are out of the race.

But Hamilton responds immediately with a 1m31.521s to gain on both Ferraris.

Leclerc is stretching the legs of his Ferrari, as he produces a fastest lap of 1m31.613s to extend his lead to 3.5s on Sainz, with the Spaniard told he also needs to fuel save to make his life that bit harder.
Ocon manages to pass a struggling Verstappen with a dive underneath at Stowe. Ocon makes the move stick and steals P8.
Behind the front three Norris pits and drops to fifth place, which promotes Perez up one spot.
Ocon has now caught Verstappen in the battle for P8. The Alpine is looming large in the Dutchman's mirrors.
Here's the state of play: Leclerc leads by 1.8s from Sainz with Hamilton 4.2s off in third. Hamilton's tyres are eight laps fresher than Leclerc's and 13 laps fresher than Sainz's.
Hamilton pits at the end of lap 33 and takes on the hards, it is a slow stop of 4.3s, and he comes out in third 3.4s off Sainz.
Leclerc puts in a 1m31.837s, a new fastest lap, to go two-tenths quicker than Hamilton last time around.
Now Ocon has got into P9 he has opened a gap over Latifi and is now setting his sights on a struggling Verstappen who is not far up the road. Schumacher now passes Latifi for P10.
20 laps to go in this race, which has been truly enthralling, with Hamilton leading by 18.7s from Leclerc but the Mercedes driver is still due to pit.
Ah, not for long, as Sainz lets his Ferrari team-mate overtake on the Wellington straight. Team orders at work there.
Leclerc is within DRS range of Sainz and looks for a move at Copse but backs out. Both are losing time and this is playing into Hamilton's hands.

An update from the FIA on Zhou: "The driver of Car 24 (Zhou) has been declared fit and released from the Medical Centre."

Ocon takes P9 from Latifi with a clean move on the Williams driver at Vale.
"We are free to fight," Leclerc is told over team radio. It is Ferrari vs Ferrari, this could get spicy.
Hamilton responds, a 1m32.265s, but Leclerc's next lap is a 1m32.021s and he's not in DRS range of Sainz in front.
There is a great battle brewing for P9 with 0.4s separating Latifi and Ocon.
Leclerc has fired up his hards quickly, as he sets a new fastest lap of anyone with a 1m32.060s. That puts him 1.4s behind Sainz.
Hamilton leads and stays out on the mediums, but he will need to pit at some point in this race to change compound having gone from mediums to mediums in the red flag.
Verstappen, in P8, is continuing to struggle with his Red Bull now on hard tyres. He says, "It is like driving on ice". He also reports a problem with his front wing to the team.
Leclerc takes on hards and comes out in third place behind Sainz by 2.2s.
Leclerc pits from the lead, just as Hamilton closed to within one second of him. This is a critical stage of the race.
Following the latest round of pit stops, Latifi and Ocon now round out the top 10.
Leclerc is told "full push" so we'd expect him to pit shortly. Further back Verstappen pits again, to take on fresh hards, and drops to eighth place, overtaken by Vettel at The Loop.
"Tyres are still strong," Hamilton says over team radio. Is that the opposite of 'tyres are gone'?
A challenging British GP for Alfa Romeo is capped with a mechanical retirement for Valtteri Bottas. The Finn brings the car into the pits to retire, he had been sitting in the points following the clash between the two AlphaTauri drivers.
Leclerc now leads by 2.4s from Hamilton, as the Mercedes driver is told the Ferrari is carrying front wing damage. He's in the hunt, you know.
