As Vettel moves up to second, 0.034s behind Bottas, the top five are now split by two tenths exactly. Only Hamilton remains somewhat off the pace among the leading teams' drivers.
In his first flying lap, Verstappen goes quickest of all in the second and third sector. But he gave up a little too much in the first sector, and comes up 0.025s short.
Hamilton's first lap takes him to fourth, while Bottas is only seventh. The Mercedes pair are split by the two Haas cars. Everyone in the top seven has set a time on the supersoft.
Vettel improves to within two thousandths of second-placed Ricciardo.
Third time's a charm for Raikkonen, who overhauls Ricciardo with a 1m.10.086s.
Hamilton and Bottas have ventured onto the circuit, which means all 20 cars have now made an appearance in FP1.
Much better from Vettel on his second attempt, with a session-best S3. But he's only third overall, 0.281s down on Ricciardo.
Bent steering hasn't prevented Gasly from finding more pace, the Toro Rosso driver moving up to third - before being shuffled down by Sainz.
Raikkonen is quickest of all in the first and third sectors, but drops just enough time in the middle of the lap to come up 0.084s short of Ricciardo.
"Steering is a bit bent on the right," Gasly reports.
Raikkonen completes a flying lap on supersofts just under three tenths down on Ricciardo. Vettel's first lap, meanwhile, is not very good at all - 1.5s off the pace.
Gasly becomes the third driver to post a representative time, but is down on Norris as well as Ricciardo.
Daniel Ricciardo strings together three purple sectors to lead the way with a 1m10.139s.
Norris' next lap is nicer still, a 1m11.938s. But Ricciardo is about to snatch the top spot away from him on supersofts.
"Okay, Lando, that was a nice lap with a good improvement," Norris is told by McLaren.
Norris shaves off exactly a second, recording a 1m12.312s effort.
Norris has the track all to himself and is now starting another flying lap. He's up again in the first sector.
Lando Norris completes the first proper push lap of the weekend, taking the top spot with a 1m13.312s on softs.
Vandoorne makes his second appearance on track but then promptly pulls into the pits without starting a flyer.
Raikkonen pulls into the pits after setting that quote-unquote 'benchmark', and after the initial flurry of activity the track is now empty.
Kimi Raikkonen is the first driver to post a laptime. It's a 1m20.666s, which is well off the expected pace.
"The mechanics can give me more space when I park, otherwise I cannot be straight," Gasly tells his team.
Everyone but Hamilton, Verstappen and Bottas have been out on track now, but not a single flying lap has been completed as of yet.

Ricciardo completed a sole installation lap on the medium tyre and is now back into the pits.
It's a lively start - the Saubers also head out, as do Vettel, Gasly, Magnussen and Sirotkin.
The session begins in earnest and Ricciardo heads out on track straight away. The two McLarens follow suit.
The air temperature is a very agreeable 20 degrees Celsius, with the track surface seven degrees warmer.
Ricciardo's already sat at pitlane exit, well ahead of the start of the session. Either he's very eager, or he's a due a penalty and is trying to maximise his grid position by heading out first in FP1, because F1 rules are silly like that.
And finally, Antonio Giovinazzi will take over Marcus Ericsson's Sauber ahead of his promotion to a full-time seat next year.
McLaren's 2019 signing Lando Norris will go for a spin in Fernando Alonso's MCL33.
Three FP1-only runners this weekend. Firstly, Nicholas Latifi will make his fifth appearance of the season in the VJM11, replacing Sergio Perez this time.
