Replays show Norris running so wide at Turn 4 that he actually goes out of view of the reverse-facing camera.
Just over 10 minutes left in FP1 - will we see the frontrunners have another go at a fast laptime?
Bottas improves his laptime but stays sixth, some six tenths down on his team-mate Hamilton.
Bottas is now back out on track, so his FP1 won't end up too compromised by that suspected oil leak after all.
Of the FP1-only drivers, Giovinazzi is three tenths down on Leclerc and Latifi is trailing Ocon by 1.1s. Norris is ahead of Vandoorne, but the Belgian is yet to run on supersofts.
Current order (with 20 minutes to go):
1 Verstappen
2 Vettel, +0.049s
3 Hamilton, +0.096s
4 Ricciardo, +0.384s
5 Raikkonen, +0.562s
6 Bottas, +0.715s
7 Grosjean, +0.911s
8 Magnussen
9 Leclerc
10 Ocon
11 Sainz
12 Hulkenberg
13 Giovinazzi
14 Stroll
15 Gasly
16 Norris
17 Sirotkin
18 Hartley
19 Vandoorne
20 Latifi
Vettel, on supersofts, slots in between Verstappen and Hamilton out front. Ricciardo also improves, but can only take fourth, 0.384s slower than his team-mate.
Verstappen finds time in the first sector, but cannot keep it up for the rest of the lap, going a couple of tenths slower than his best.
"I got traffic with Brendon," Gasly reports, before swearing about "front lock".
Raikkonen is improving on a flying lap - on softs rather than supersofts. It's ultimately good enough for third, but he's over half a second down on Verstappen.
Verstappen, however, improves on his new set right away, taking the top spot from Hamilton with a 1m09.011s. He wasn't too fast in the first or third sector, gaining all the laptime in the middle instead.
With his third attempt on the new supersoft set, Hamilton improves to a 1m09.107s.
"Giovinazzi in the middle of the high-speed corner," Hartley complains. The Sauber didn't look too badly positioned on the replays, to be honest.
Magnussen has had a fairly major off at the Turn 8 right-hander, locking the left front and going into the run-off area sideways.
New supersofts on for Hamilton, who will look to potentially get into the 1m08s margin.
New supersofts likewise for Magnussen, but he doesn't improve enough to join his team-mate ahead of the Ferraris. A stellar lap from Giovinazzi takes him to ninth place.
Grosjean bolts on a fresh set of supersofts and overhauls the Ferraris to move up to fifth place. He's within half a second of Hamilton's benchmark.
Mercedes says it is investigating an oil leak on Bottas' car, so we shouldn't expect him to head back out any time soon.

Just over 40 minutes left to go in the session now. The track is mostly empty, although Norris is continuing to chip away at his personal best sectors.
A strong effort vaults Norris up to 12th place, as he splits the two Renaults.
Ricciardo makes a very aggressive entry into his pit box, before radioing: "Oh jeez, did I collect him?" in reference to one of his mechanics. No damage done, thankfully.
"Okay, mate, I got twice blocked by Latifi, he needs to be a bit more careful," Grosjean tells his team.
Vandoorne has now set a time but he remains last - a tenth down on Norris and 0.019s down on Latifi.
Hamilton's supersofts are now nine laps old and finally seem to be showing some signs of wear. His latest lap is three tenths slower than his best, not aided by a lock-up.
Bottas now up to third, three tenths behind his team-mate. Mercedes showing some good pace in the final sector.
Current order:
1 Hamilton
2 Verstappen, +0.037s
3 Ricciardo, +0.369s
4 Bottas, +0.516s
5 Vettel, +0.516s
6 Raikkonen, +0.663s
7 Magnussen, +1.282s
8 Grosjean
9 Leclerc
10 Ocon
11 Hulkenberg
12 Sainz
13 Stroll
14 Gasly
15 Sirotkin
16 Giovinazzi
17 Hartley
18 Norris
19 Latifi
20 Vandoorne (no time)
Verstappen sets session-best pace in the first two sectors, but comes up short on the run to the finish line, He's now 0.037s behind Hamilton.
"I need to make an amendment, I've got a lot of understeer," Hamilton tells Mercedes.
Bottas locks up massively in the middle sector and is forced to back out of his flying lap.
But Hamilton's next lap is better still, a 1m09.423s taking him just under a tenth clear of the Dutchman.
It's a much better first sector from Verstappen, and the rest of the lap is excellent as well. The result is a 1m09.506s - quicker than anyone by four tenths!
