Barcelona F1 test two day one

Two decent back-to-back runs for Vandoorne on the supersofts there. Difficult to read much into its significance pace-wise because he did his 1m21.946s 'push' lap straight away in his first seven-lap run, then more or less went straight out and did another nine, mostly around the 1m23s.
Sainz pits, and so we have an empty track once more. Eight laps down for the Spaniard.
Another minor improvement by Sainz, as Hamilton pits the Mercedes again.
In comes Vandoorne, now on 23 laps, closely followed by Hamilton. Just Sainz left on track.
In comes Gasly, so it's Hamilton, Sainz and Vandoorne circulating now. Sainz improves to a 1m23.437s but stays 12th and last.
Sainz opens his account with a 1m24.068s with softs. Gasly heads out in the Toro Rosso, meanwhile.

McLaren and Vandoorne will be looking to make up for lost time in the afternoon (Sutton Images)

Perez back in the pits, as Carlos Sainz heads out for the first time today in the Renault.
Vandoorne is out on supersofts, but doesn't improve on his first flying lap, while Perez is out on softs.
Not too many movements in the pits so far this afternoon, including down at Red Bull. We're reliably informed that Verstappen has been sitting at a table and chatting back at the team's hospitality.
Hamilton edges down to a 1m22.019s, but remains 11th - for now.
A marginal improvement next time by for the world champion, who logs a 1m22.677s.
First lap of the day for Hamilton is a 1m22.868s. He's on softs.
Our call to arms is answered by Mercedes, which sends out Lewis Hamilton for the first time today.
Nobody out at the moment, which is odd given track temperatures are a roasting 32C - around double what we had for any sustained length of time last week. Ambient temperature is a very agreeable 17C.
In comes Vandoorne, who doubles his lap count for the day at a stroke - 14 down now.
Renault is due out in 10-15 minutes with Sainz at the wheel, after Hulkenberg's stint earlier today.
Vandoorne on the brink of getting himself out of 10th and last with a 1m21.946s, just 0.010s down on ninth-placed Perez.
Renault is fairly confident of getting work done in the afternoon after some minor troubles in the morning. Apparently it's using its second chassis (no problem with the first, it just wanted to run this one).
Early improvement for Vandoorne - a 1m23.616s. He's on supersofts for this run.
Vandoorne gets down to business immediately. McLaren has catching up to do.
And here's a view we caught of the McLaren whirring back into action just before lunch
